The editors of Anuario de Arqueología are in charge of a first editorial review of the manuscripts, to ensure they reach the required quality standards and follow the editorial guidelines. Then the manuscripts are sent to reviewers, who are chosen based on their academic and professional qualifications and relation to the issues discussed in the manuscripts being reviewed. In the event that one of the reviewers recommends the rejection of the manuscript, the intervention of a third competent reviewer is requested.

The editors can return the manuscripts to the authors in the event they do not fit the focus and scope of the journal, and also if they show a general poor quality, they do not follow the editorial guidelines or if they ignore the recommendations and observations made by the reviewers and/or editors.
